Briggs of Burton support the International Centre of Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University

Briggs of Burton were pleased to continue their support for the International Centre of Brewing and Distilling (ICBD) at Heriot- Watt University this week. Scott Davies and Andrew Mieleniewski provided a brewery design workshop to the 2nd Year Brewing and Distilling students. The session involved several team activities to get the students thinking about equipment size and selection as part of a business plan.

Jane White, Associate Professor at the ICBD mentioned “The 2nd year Brewing and Distilling students really appreciated the Briggs team visiting this week and providing such an interesting and active learning experience around designing and engineering a brewery. The students particularly enjoyed the insight and discussions from industry, and the practical brewery layout exercise.”

In addition to the workshop, the ICBD is home to a research brewery designed and built by Briggs of Burton which over the last year had an upgrade in dual-purpose vessel (DPV) capacity to support the growing number of students learning to brew and distil at the Watt.

Briggs of Burton are keen to support the ICBD and looking forward to returning next year, especially if we can share our knowledge and experience to the next generation of brewers and distillers!
