Briggs of Burton in North America & Latin America
Briggs of Burton (BRIGGS) delivers process engineering solutions across North and Latin America for the food, beverage, and life sciences sectors. BRIGGS has completed major projects in the US, Mexico, and Canada, and continues to support Central and South America with spare parts for legacy brewing equipment. Larger projects in Latin America would be delivered through the wider CLPT Group.

United States of America
BRIGGS has operated in the US for over 40 years, starting with brewing and later expanding into food, pharmaceuticals, and distilled spirits. Our work includes thermal heating of stills, large pre-assembled units for insulin manufacture, and cereal cookers for major food producers. These projects are often large-scale and complex, requiring flexible designs for varied recipes and production schedules.

Canada
BRIGGS has helped leading Canadian whisky producers evaluate operations and expand capacity. Working closely with our Upstate New York team, we have delivered feasibility studies, retrofits, and upgrades from grain handling through to distillation, including CRN-rated equipment.

Mexico
BRIGGS has developed deep expertise in tequila and mezcal production, working with major local and international brands. Our projects range from design studies to full EPC delivery, improving health and safety, automation, energy recovery, and water reduction.

Latin America
BRIGGS primarily supports Latin America with spare parts for legacy brewhouse equipment, with larger projects delivered through the CLPT Group’s global resources.

Why Choose BRIGGS for Your Next Americas Project?
BRIGGS understands North American legislative requirements and designs ASME-compliant systems, including pressure vessels and heat exchangers. We maintain a strong health and safety record with OSHA-trained teams and functional safety expertise. Our experience includes transitioning legacy brownfield sites and adding new functionality to meet modern production needs.

various distilleries across Mexico

Briggs of Burton has made an impact in the home of tequila. Our company, specialising in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) solutions, has played a pivotal role in the design, engineering, and construction of some of the largest industrial-scale distilleries in the region.

We take pride in our comprehensive understanding of traditional, modern, and hybrid production processes for agave-based spirits. This encompasses small-scale production exceeding 10,000 litres per day at 55% ABV, as well as large industrial-scale operations exceeding 100,000 litres per day at 55% ABV. Our expertise extends to the design and construction of stainless-steel stills ranging from 5,000 to 30,000 litres, complete with copper worm tubs, demonstrating our commitment to delivering tailored solutions.

These requirements encompass varying production scales, diverse product types including blanco, reposado, and añejo tequilas, a commitment to delivering VIP and exceptional customer experiences, and an unwavering dedication to sustainability across carbon emissions, water usage and energy efficiency. Our collaboration extends beyond our core team, as we frequently partner with Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) experts, combining our engineering expertise with their architectural know-how to bring your projects to life.

Furthermore, tequila is experiencing unprecedented global popularity, with a remarkable 20% increase in global consumption over the past five years, cementing its status as one of the fastest-growing spirits worldwide. Our dedication to excellence in EPC services and our comprehensive understanding of tequila production set us apart, ensuring that your vision is transformed into reality.

The national spirits of Mexico

Mexico, known for its rich history and vibrant culture, is home to two iconic spirits: tequila and mezcal. Both are deeply rooted in tradition and showcase the craftsmanship of agave producers, symbolizing Mexico’s heritage worldwide.
Tequila – is made primarily from blue agave grown in Jalisco and nearby regions. Its production involves harvesting, cooking the piñas, fermenting, and distilling, resulting in a distinctive spirit enjoyed neat, in cocktails like margaritas, or as a classic shot with salt and lime.
Mezcal – older and more artisanal, can be made from various agave species. Traditionally crafted in small batches, it uses underground roasting pits and clay or copper stills, giving it a smoky character. Mezcal’s unique flavors make it ideal for sipping or mixing in cocktails.
