Briggs boosts Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) score through our Sustainability programme

As part of Briggs of Burton’s strategy and its Sustainability Programme ‘Process & Progress’, the company has been awarded a ‘B’ rating for its 2022 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) submission.

This highlights a significant improvement from our 2021 application. Our team are committed to building on this achievement and expects to further reduce its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions across our operations through various investments made during 2023.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a non-profit organisation that manages the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions to report and control their environmental impacts. The improved rating is attributed to engagement with our customers, a greater understanding of our supply chain emissions, and the implementation of new sustainability management processes.

Improving corporate awareness through measurement and disclosure is essential to the effective management of climate change risk. CDP’s climate change questionnaire collects climate-related data from the world’s largest companies. Since its launch in 2002, the questionnaire has helped thousands of companies to measure their impacts, set ambitious targets and demonstrate progress for key stakeholders.

Fundamentally, our largest impact towards sustainability is with our customers, through their processes and operations. Our team are delighted to be supporting companies such as GlenAllachie Distillery with the implementation of High-Temperature Heat Pumps, with the application of Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) on their Wash stills to help reduce their energy usage and carbon footprint. We expect to further improve our rating next year due to the investments made to reduce operational emissions during 2023.
