Thornewill & Warham

Thomas Thornewill (Junior) started his apprenticeship as an edge tool maker in Burton-on-Trent in 1732, forming T&F Thornewill around 1740 with his brother Francis. It was later renamed Thornewill & Warham when John Robson Warham joined the company, it is the oldest company in Briggs of Burton’s history.

Thornewill & Warham specialised in manufacturing metal hardware and industrial metalwork, initially producing items like hoop iron for local breweries. The company eventually expanded to manufacture steam engines and brewing equipment.
